The Spartan is a marvelous creation. It removes AC noises in a way that was not achievable by any means of isolation transformer technology. It is not just about a blacker background but the way it enables each musical notes to manifest itself in an organic way, and that is what it matters.

Soundstage fanatics should really open up thier mind to the new definition of soundstaging. For God's sake, soundstage is now a physical black box. With the Spartan, the ambience of the hall can be felt in all coordinates. For some of the church recording, I can feel the triangular ceiling because even the directional movement of the echoes are now unveiled by the Spartan. It travels up to the ceiling and then bounced back downward. Isn't it amazing?

Imagine the quality of piano, all the inner contrast on the left hand side of the keyboards is vividly revealed with a dynamic process that is so coherent. On Wager's symphonic scores, the roaring of the metallic horn interwined beautifully with the woody tonality of the string section with front to back layering. It is so damn crazy. I never heard something like this from my Sunray before.

Over my 30+ hi-fi years, I have owned and tried numerous passive devices that said can improve the sound quality, yes they did on certain aspects but more importantly, they degrade the sound in a way many fundamentals were ruined in the reproduction of music.

The system that is using the Tripoint consists of the following:

 1. Da Vinci Unison turntable
 2. Da Vinci phono stage/Majestic Power supply (connected to the Troy)
 3. Da Vinci phono driver stage/Majestic Power supply (connected to the Troy)
 4. Tron Syren Preamp (connected to the Troy)
 5. Tron Telstar 211 Stereo amplifier
 6. Cessaro Alpha One Horn system
 7. All cables by Argento at the level of Flow Master Reference

The improvement brought from the Troy is tremendous. It is equivalent to level of SRA in the domain of mechanical vibration control. This is an absolute necessary component for any serious system. The amount of noises it clean up is unprecedented in my audio journey.  And there is absolutely no dynamic compression. Remember, I am using Horn speaker and we do know what is dynamic.

Over the weekend, I grounded the power supply of the phono stage to the TROY (the main chassis of the phono stage was grounded when the TROY first landed). This step, the improvement is FAR BEYOND what I expect, the effect is even bigger than grounding the amplifier. Now, I grounded everything with the exception of turntable. The piano is so real, so natural, and on vocal recording, I can feel not only the head but also the neck and for some very good recording even the upper part of the body seems to be felt. That is truly crazy.

Troy : Defying Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle

In quantum physics, it is an accepted principle that certain pairs of physical properties, like position and momentum, cannot both be known to arbitrary precision. The more precisely one property is known, the less precisely the other can be known.

As a somewhat twisted analogy, I have always approached the quest for audio reproduction as an equation of trade-offs and compromise. This mentality has been severely challenged recently. A renewed focus on pace, coherency and overall balance had not only bring me closer to the frontier of latest technology but also allow to appreciate music in a way I had never dreamt of before. To boldly goes where no man had gone before, the decision to order the Troy requires no Captain Scott, all I need is to take the plunge knowing that this is a product that is revolutionary and is designed to plug a hole that has plagued modern day technology. Rewinding the clock a full 12 months, I told PT my interest is only on products that are a quantum leap over competition – not so much an insatiable ego but more a result of resources restraint. The Tidal, the FMR and the Troy meet precisely this simple criterion and they had shocked me beyond my wildest imagination.

An alien with 4 tentacles with a look that is mean and waiting to grab the host with all its might! I just let them grab the host all at once to save the pain and trouble. After about 30 minutes of charged up / run-in, all perceivable EMI (electromagnetic interference) is declared clinically dead. Totally helpless and overwhelmed, I collapsed in my chair, hoping to grasp the sensation of a new found dimension - Life.

Life is about presence and certainty. Learned comrades like Mr. DV and DSo had already shared their valuable insights earlier and I totally agreed with them on the remarkable improvement on speed, liveliness and background silent. But to me, there is something more and beyond the well beaten path. If the improvements are only in terms of iota difference along these attributes, then this revolutionary gadget is a failure given its objective. Here I found it interesting to borrow the concept of Heisenberg’s Uncertanity Principle as a comparison. For all those quantum physicists out there, please pardon my sacrilege. In quantum mechanics, energy is expressed as a wave function with the center of gravity defining its position and the wavelength being its momentum. The deployment of Troy enables both the wave function of each instrument to transmit naturally with pinpoint accuracy. They all have their individual identity and their presence is clear and undeniable. With EMI removed, every passage of music are now singing with certainty and conviction. I can feel all members of the orchestra firmly sitting down and working coherently to support the symphonic structure while the soloist is occupying the musical gravity rather than sailing on top of it. When the orchestra attentively awaits for the conductor to signal the crescendos, the momentary static creates immense tension as if ejaculations are in the wings (this, specifically for VoyR as he is presumably still waiting for his). For the first time and unmatched by any system I heard of, including that of PT’s latest Da Vinci, they all have feet and each one has their own emotions. It is this immensity that take over me. When the drum rolls, I feel as if I am passing through time and history. When the second violins are plucking their strings, they are wholesome and the resonance reaches the farthest end of the concert hall and bounces back in unison.

In a week that is arguably the toughest and most brutal in my career, the Troy is my life line and every night as I retired from work, music plays like a miracle. I am so filled with emotion.

Helen of Troy, yes, your face does launch a thousand ships.

Dear Miguel,

After having about a week with the Troy, here are some early observations. The accompanying cables are absolutely stunning in fit and finish, and having the one "micro" spade for connecting to the equipment proved invaluable. The custom wood crate for the Troy ensured it's safe arrival, and setup was easy and quick. After attachment to the Linn Klimax Amplifier, and Unidisk as well as Linn Preamplifier, the background was much quieter with much more air around the instruments. Customers were quite taken aback as the soundstage increased in height, width and depth. This despite having very good line conditioning and excellent power cords and interconnects. The pace, rhythm, attack and decay of notes was noticeable improved, particularly on acoustic and classical pieces. The bass notes were much cleaner, tighter and had greater resolution and impact. Layers of detail from well known recordings were revealed.  All of these changes were not insignificant and the Troy has certainly piqued the interest of some of our best customers. I will be needing more of the connecting cables with the "micro" spades as the Linn equipment has smaller diameter mounting screws. I am looking forward to even more impressive changes as the unit breaks in. Who would have expected such a profound upgrade by this unit, and an exceptionally attractive one at that. Thanks again for all your help Miguel! I'll be in touch.

Any recommendations in order to maximize my Tripoint Apollo? Hook up tips? I have just purchased the new Tripoint Troy ac filtration/ground system and to tell you this device has given me the most natural portrayal of the musical event I have ever heard from my system is an understatement! As a discerning audiophile that has had the chance, and luck, to own some of the best components in this crazy hobby; Tube Research, JM Labs, the Tripoint lets my electronics achieve their maximum potential. When Miguel Alvarez first approached me to schedule a demonstration of this revolutionary new product, I admit I was skeptical, and cautious, of the performance claims Miguel promised to deliver. There is no hard copy technical explanation on how this device works, but since the manufacturer is local and had offered a demonstration...I agreed to the home audition. The build quality and look of the Tripoint Troy is second to none. The African Bubinga mirror finish is beautiful and it sounds every bit as fabulous as it looks! The Tripoint is for the audiophile who demands nothing but the most innovative. I profess, I was not prepared to hear what I heard. First the Tripoint delivered the most holographic, layered sound that I have ever experienced. Familiar recordings that I had sampled over and over again took on a NEW life of their own! The music sounded as if multiple layers of veils had been striped away from the musicians. Not to be unfair, I have heard other ac filtration devices that remove grain and lower the noise floor, but never anything as quiet and as natural as the Tripoint. It just pulled me further into the music and made me forget about my electronics. I asked Miguel how he was able to achieve this natural voicing. He explained to me that the key is to eliminate noise in a more passive manner, while at the same time utilizing materials that have the correct resonating frequency. I'm still not entirely sure how it works, but I can tell you that the Tripoint Troy is definitely amazing! Costly, but worth it because it really delivers. I recommend you do not audition the Tripoint unless you are prepared to pay the price, since it will spoil you and leave you wanting to keep it in your system. This IS the closest I have ever been to the music!

My experience with Tripoint Apollo mirrors yours. Further improvements were obtained by grounding the unit to my 3 dedicated grounding rods outside my home. It was hard to believe that Tripoint was able to lower my noise floor even more .After 200 hours of break in I was able to achieve more transparency. As I listened to Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto the girl from Ipanema. I'm reminded how Tripoint conveys real true music. Bravo !!!

I had the good fotune to have the Tripoint in my already excellent system for a week. It brought my system to a level I have never thought could be attained. The music was very lifelike, very smooth and as Kirk said very holographic. I sat in awe listening to very familiar recording and rediscovering the content. The instruments were very much like live music, the sound floor was very very quiet and music was very clear and effortless. It is an piece for people who truly want to as they say "kick it up a notch". I have never heard a single piece of equipment have such a positive and profound effect on the music. You just want to listen and listen and listen.

I recently had an audiophile epithany that opened my eyes to what really matters in a system.

I have known Miguel Alvarez for about 3 yrs since I work as a sales associate and systems designer for a mid-hi-end specialty retailer and Miguel was a factory representative for a large audio company. I have always been quite aware of Miguel's passion for music and the extremes he has been willing to go to recreate a true musical experience.

When Miguel told me of the difference his new a/c filtration and ground system made in his system and that it would make a huge improvement in any system I was a bit skeptical in spite of how much confidence I have in him.

Miguel asked me if he could bring the Troy in to where I work and hook it up for an audition and I was anxious to check it out so I told him to bring it in.

The first thing I noticed was the amazing craftmanship, I can't remember the last time I saw a product so well made solid African bubinga cabinet, beautifully machined front panel, ultra high quality power cord ,a true labor of love from someone who really cares. But enough about that the important thing is if makes a difference! so we hooked it up to a Cambridge Audio 640AII 75wpc integrated amp, Cambridge Audio 640 CD player and Focal Electra 1027BE speakers using only Audioquest type 4 10ft speaker cable(200.00) and Audioquest 2m sidewinder audio interconnect cables(80.00) and we put on a recording of Eva Cassidy singing the old Louis Armstrong title "What a wonderful world". We all just sat listening me and 4 other guys 2 that work with me and 2 of my good customers/fellow audiophiles that just happened to be in the store when Miguel came in.

Nobody had to say a word we just all looked at each other, the music said it all!!!! I could have sworn Eva Cassidy came back to life and was in the room singing to us!!! It was music!!! holographic, detailed with an awesome soundstage, like nothing I have ever heard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What was even more amazing was that we were using low priced cables and a 600.00 amplifier!!!

I have been an audiophile for over 30yrs and have spent 15yrs of my life in the Audio business and have never heard a component made such an impact on a system. So before you spend 10,000 on a preamp or 20,000 on a power amp all in search of audio nirvana, buy this first!!!!!! yes it is expensive but worth every penny!!! You will have a more musically satisfying experience with the TROY in your system and an affordable amplifier than you would without it and 30-40k worth of electronics.

I was ready to upgrade my 10yr old McIntosh preamp but after hearing what the Troy can do I am saving up to by that instead with no doubt that it will make my system more musical.

I had the great pleasure to experience Tripoint first hand. Let me start by saying that I have never been so close to the music. Overall sound on my system was extremely natural, filling the room in 3-D. Zeppelin never sounded so life like as if they were playing live in front of me. Each guitar string resonating until almost transparent . The attack on the snare drum was mind blowing, the bass was tight and dynamic. The way the musicians came together was nothing short of total harmonic ecstasy. The moment I disconnected the box every sounded muddy, disorganized. Huge difference!! I cannot believe this product has made such an impact on the way we listen to music. In my humble opinion it is a technological marvel.
